2025: NYC

This year, I’ve continued to take lots of photos, switching it up between all 3 of my available cameras. With this set, more than trying to take good stuff, I’ve tried to capture the feeling of what it’s been like for me that year:

Pickleball Roof

Corrugated metal sheets are supported by thin steel beams, painted white with tinges of rust seeping in against a pale blue sky

Under The Bridge

White-and-brown metal latticework forms a sturdy underside to a bridge. The light bounces from somewhere onto it, forming interesting patterns.

Industrialism

A back door to some building (evidenced by an exposed HVAC unit up top & various pipes) nonetheless has full-story glass windows & nice interior lighting. Various metal railings and concrete pillars both inside and out blend together in the window panes.

Buildings Have Angles

A glass building with fancy angles & custom windows to match runs up right against a fairly older-looking stair-steppy building. The latter is made out of sandy brown painted bricks, with a little bit of facade.

Soft Haze

The Shed at Hudson Yards looms in front of some fancy apartment buildings. There is a gray haze over everything making it look dreary.

Water On Lens

Various water droplets on the camera lens slightly distort a very wet yet vibrant garden on the High Line.

Dirty Wall

Midday sun casts a diagonal shadow across a light gray wall where a poster once was, before it was sloppily painted over a few times. The rest of the paint is visibly peeling.

Average Brooklyn Night

High ISO causes colorful noise to dance across the deep blue night sky, where a small crescent moon hangs above a solitary street light & a few lit apartments.

Average Manhattan Night

Lots of tall office buildings surround a smaller office buildin's roof, all still lit up despite being fairly late. In the distance, a spotlight pours out from the top of a skyscraper. The city seems to stretch on forever.

I WANT TO THANK YOU

On the side of a long pier building, in front of the part of the NYC skyline that includes The Edge, is painted the words in red capital sans-serif embossed letters: I Want To Thank You

NT TO TH

A closer shot of the previous pier, now only part of the letters visible, at a different time of day.

I WANT TO THANK YOU 2

A shot of the same pier, now off-axis a little bit, so the 'you' is closer to the viewer than 'I'.

Pacific Rim Poster

A poster for the Pacific Rim movie, featuring a robot fighting a giant moster. It is in the shade, framed by a tree, sidewalk, crossing signal, and red brick above.
Canon EOS Rebel T5i, 29mm, 1/40s, f13, 125 ISO. 2025-11-02 11:24. I liked this poster a lot. Unfortunatly, it has now been replaced by a very generic ad for Hulu.

Fort Greene Park

Trees in the yellow haze of spring's golden hour.
Canon EOS 5DS, 70mm, 1/200s, f5, 320 ISO. 2025-05-10 18:12. I don't often to go this park after moving away from Downtown Brooklyn.

Compared to last year, I am much more satisfied with these. There were a lot of ones that I really liked that I had to cut because otherwise there would be too many here!! Still growing & learning how to do more things with my camera. Next up should be more wide-angle stuff, I’ve been relying on these tight lenses for a while now.
